Braden Simms threw a shutout to lead West Hall High School past Lumpkin County 8-0 on Monday. West Hall got on the board in the first inning. An error scored one run for West Hall High School Varsity. Simms led things off on the pitcher's mound for the Spartans. Simms surrendered zero runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out 12. West Hall scattered nine hits in the game. Justin Shaffer, Evan Connor, and Simms each racked up multiple hits. Simms, Connor, and Shaffer all had two hits to lead the Spartans.
On Thursday, West Hall managed through a push by Lumpkin County in the fourth inning where the Spartans coughed up three runs, but West Hall still won 6-3 on Thursday. West Hall got things moving in the first inning, when Nick Sturm drew a walk, scoring one run.The Spartans put up four runs in the third inning. Kyle Murphy, Sturm, and Evan Connor powered the big inning with RBIs. Alex Holman was on the hill for West Hall. The lefthander surrendered three runs on four hits over six innings, striking out seven. West Hall racked up 12 hits. Justin Shaffer, Murphy, Braden Simms, and Tyler Maynard each collected multiple hits for The Spartans. Maynard, Simms, Murphy, and Shaffer all had two hits to lead the team. West Hall was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Maynard made the most plays with seven.
